Hi, I’m Katie!

My name is Katie Schultz & I am the author behind The Honey Girl Kitchen. I grew up in a small town in central Wisconsin with an amazing family. My grandma was an integral part of my upbringing and spoiled our family with her cooking. She owned a restaurant with my grandpa and some of my earliest memories are in that kitchen and dance hall. She also gave me & my sister the nickname “Honey Girl”.
I was lucky that my grandma loved to cook and bake, AND loved to teach. From the time I was a little girl, she started involving me in the kitchen. I grew up cooking and baking alongside her. From cookies to pastries to soups to suppers, we covered it all. She was my go-to for any question related to cooking or baking. I can’t tell you how many times I called her from the grocery store with a question about an ingredient or recipe!
My grandma was also quite the host. She loved entertaining and having friends and family over. I am very close to my extended family as a result of this. Everyone would leave her house with their stomachs full from the delicious food she had prepared and their hearts full from the fun we had together.
I started this blog with my grandma in mind – to continue her legacy of sharing recipes and creating memories with our families in the kitchen and around the dinner table. My daughters are now 4 and 5 years old, and both like to get involved when I’m baking or cooking. I encourage you to include your children when you are making these recipes – it would be an honor to me, and I’m sure to my grandma a well. You never know, you might just initiate a life-long passion in your little ones!
